Since you mention it, and since you're in the SF Bay Area, my sister (in SF) teaches vocal technique for radio and voice-over actors. She's a casting agent and thus has reason to want more people in the Bay Area who can speak clearly and compellingly. Might be interesting to have a chat with her about ways to be clearer on mic over a noisy room.
