Luke,There have been times when I've tried new ideas and the dancers figured out an easier way. Or said differently they saw through the complexity and thought it was not worth the effort. I'm not saying this is true for your dance but it's something to be prepared for.
In terms of timing I'd guess that the 4 person do-si-do is going to take more than 8 beats.
