After thinking about this for a while I have a question: Shouldn't the view (e.g. KWView) also be part of the move? The real core is exposed by the canvas, which is where both the painting and interaction happens. The application itself surrounds the canvas with the view, and the view in, say, Words is completely different from the view in Calligra Active.
