I haven't yet looked at the size of those patches. But knowing the author had a lot of time to test them and apparently did, why not include? As long as 2.9 is still in beta, it's a perfect time to include them; they concern a core functionality so they'll get some thorough real-world testing. It'll be easy enough to take them out if that turns up things Inge overlooked.
