since this is a important question I want to remember anyone that the GPL
rejects any Warranty and Liability for the SW manufacturer/distributor
if so licensed software is unpaid.

remember, the main reason for companies not to use GPL'd products is that
the maintainers and providers take no liability for it and for what You do with
it.

I assume this is what some people expect if CallWeaver is delivered to them
they want the CallWeaver Project to take over *their own* liabilities.
this is typically a company's in-buyers behaviour used to buy proprietary
softwares.

to exclude this liability once and for all, CallWeaver maintainers decided
not to deliver this way tainted stuff with it. thats O.K.

so You can use patented codecs with Your own extended CW installation,
but at Your own risk and business and You must setup Your own business with
patent holders. theres no need at all for the CW project doing this for You.

But if You want to provide such extended CW based installations dont forget to
include a copy
of the GPL (GPL is NOT "Public Domain"!) and respect its contents.
additionally,
provide instructions how to pay patent fees. thats all and IMHO more fair than
most proprietary licenses which are far more restricting.

I could add this to the wiki FAQ if no corrections or veto s.
