First of all I want to declare my ignorance:
What is intended for ECM ?
Becouse now, better looking around, I see two places where is spoken about
ECM

The first one is at Fax machine level: on certain fax machine you can choose
between ECM ON or OFF

If you choose OFF, you see something like "sending G3" (I think it means
tiff Group 3 fax)
If you choose ON, you see something like "sending ECM"

This is the kind of ECM I was speaking about

Further looking, I saw t38 ecm configurable in certain ata (i.e. wellgate
3702b, but only acting via telnet,
you don't see that option via web interface)

In HT 486 and 386 you don't have this option.

So actually I am very confused about what you mean about ECM: the first one
or the latter ?

And another question: the parameters into udptl.conf in which way are
related with ECM ?

now I have:

[general]
;
; Whether to enable or disable UDP checksums on UDPTL traffic
;
udptlchecksums=yes
;
; The error correction type to be sent
;
;T38FaxUdpEC = t38UDPFEC
T38FaxUdpEC = t38UDPRedundancy
;
; The maximum length of a UDPTL packet
;
T38FaxMaxDatagram = 300
;
; The number of error correction entries in a UDPTL packet
;
udptlfecentries = 3
;
; The span over which parity is calculated for FEC in a UDPTL packet
;
udptlfecspan = 3

is it a good environment for testing t38 and ecm ?

thanks,

Andrea

p.s.
>Can you run with the debug option to txfax, and produce a packet trace file
and log file? If so, email them to me, and >I will investigate.
I am preparing them: I am using t38Gateway

Attachment: smime.p7s
