When I was playing with BackgroundDetect to work I tried a number of
combinations like:

Each "Start of voice token" is me pushing buttons on the phone. I tried
1, I tried 2, then I tried punching a whole bunch of buttons. In case
it's relevant (if it wasn't obvious from my t38 call earlier) I am using
SIP (ulaw). When using the Background application DTMF detection works
flawlessly.

2nd, you argued that BackgroundDetect doesn't work.
I asked how you were invoking BackgroundDetect (not backgroundfaxdetect
that doesn't exists).
So, how are you invoking this ?
Also, BackgroundDetect writes some debug lines in the log (LOG_DEBUG).
Does it detects the DTMF ?
Any log ?
Which channel ?
