Sooo..
I'm trying to figure out whether it really makes sense to deploy 450i subs
vs. 450's with the Medusa AP. As far as I can see the current advantages are
(1) all three 5GHz bands, (2) unlocked throughput, (3) probable improved
interference mitigation, (4) integrated 23dB antenna (or connectorized
you're probably going to spend $600 total to add a 25dB panel) and (4) more
processing power for future upgrades. On the other hand, the $500-600 price
tag for a CPE makes for a pretty difficult business case for residential
customers--up to a couple hundred more, depending on the license level.
Counter argument: 10 or 20 meg licenses will need to be upgraded
eventually--does anybody believe BW appetite will stay the same?--and you'll
need to buy the connectorized and an external panel with the 450 for
anything outside 1km or so if you care about optimizing the link budget. So
in reality you're probably saving ~$100 to buy a CPE that's going to be
obsolete sooner than a 450i.
Thoughts, anyone?
