Amy Goodman, Democracy Now, was arrested and led away in chains at the
Republican National Convention during massive police action against dissenters

A doddering John McCain and his untested first mate, Sarah Palin, are now
taking the helm of a broken Republican party which long ago sold its proud
birthright to the religious far right and will soon be hiding its moral
disintegration behind a curtain of American flags, false patriotism and 9/11 at
the GOP national convention which is literally under martial law ~ journalist
Amy Goodman of Democracy Now was arrested yesterday and taken away in chains:

ST. PAUL, MN Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman was unlawfully arrested in
downtown St. Paul, Minnesota at approximately 5 p.m. local time. Police
violently manhandled Goodman, yanking her arm, as they arrested her and took

These are the strong arm tactics of a desperate Republican party who is still
in major denial as they watch Obama's lead widen ~ particularly in light of
their virtually unvetted selection of Sarah Palin as VP. Justifying Palin's
selection amounts to what Richard Cohen calls ~ The consummate contempt for the
intelligence of the American people .
So here are the facts regarding the man who has been chosen to right the sunken
ship of the Republican Party ~ who William Rivers Pitt calls " The Hollow man "
The facts reveal that Mr. McCain has thrown his support behind just about every
asinine and idiotic decision made by the single most unpopular and unsuccessful
American president there ever was and, God willing, ever will be. The facts
reveal that he has boomeranged away from so many policy positions he once
espoused, going so far as to denounce a whole sheaf of legislation he had
personally authored, because the Republican base despised those issues; but
since he needed their support if he ever wanted to have a chance of winning, it
was whiplash be damned and the Devil take the hindmost..
The facts, along with plenty of photographic evidence, reveal that while the
city of New Orleans drowned beneath the floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina,
McCain was snuggling with George W. Bush beneath the very same blanket of
willful ignorance and sadistic indifference that has defined this
administration. By a horrifying coincidence, the city of New Orleans now finds
itself in the crosshairs of yet another deadly hurricane, not only on the
anniversary of Katrina's destruction, but also on the eve of the Republican
National Convention that will officially nominate Mr. McCain as the GOP's

And what were George W Bush, another hollow man, and John McCain doing, three
years ago, while New Orleans was being destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and
Americans were being abandoned and dying ~ celebrating John McCain's birthday.
And now, at the Republican National Convention, we have Amy Goodman of
Democracy Now ! being illegally arrested, while she was covering street
demonstrations, and taken away in chains as an example of the police state we
have almost if not become. Democracy Now is a daily TV/radio news program,
hosted by Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez, airing on over 700 stations,
pioneering the largest community media collaboration in the U.S.

I myself have been under surveillance since June 2008 and recently spotted and
chased a surveillance van off my property late at night.
The Bush/Cheney and McCain party will do anything to hide their moral
disintegration under the cloak of National Security and patriotism ~ which
includes negating the constititional right of dissent ~ but the reality is that
they are protecting a broken and sunken ship which Bush and Cheney have already
abandoned and now has John McCain and Sarah Palin as its Captain and first mate.
The Republican ship of fools ~ sunk by its own greed and arrogance and mired in
the muck of broken neocon and christian right wing dreams of grandeur.
