MR. Truong CANG is a Khmer
Oknha TRUONG CANG ,a KHMER KROM who has greatly contributed to the success of
our Preah Vihear's case in La Haye International Justice Court, Nederland.
Every Khmer knows him or at least has heard of him whose name is the name of
one of the Phnom Penh streets, near Wat Koh-Phsar Thmey areas.
Personally I met Lok Truong Cang, he is a KHMER KROM . HE HAD DINED WITH me in
many occasion in France and in Cambodia. SOME SAID HE IS A VIETNAMESE . I
OBJECT. He is a KHmer.

There is no way for us to know the exact numbers of illegal Vietnamese settling
so far in Cambodia. It is widely believed by many people that the Vietnamese
population in Cambodia could top 4.5 millions. The Hun Sen's government
disputes this numbers, but what is a "good" number of Vietnamese illegal
settlers should Cambodian people accept? How many is too many? If you asked
Khmer people, they would say none is a good number; if you ask the Vietnamese,
millions would love to come to settle in Cambodia.
In any event, it is the job of the Cambodian government to curb illegal
immigrants, and it is one of the jobs of Cambodian members of parliament to
raise this issue to the public and to the government. So far the CPP-led
Cambodian government has done nothing to address this problem. Many Vietnamese
continue to cross the border into Cambodia every day, freely. They can do this
because they have gained instant supports from their own associations in
Cambodia; they have gained all kinds of supports from Cambodian and Vietnamese
government and many NGOs. Millions, at the same time, have also gained rights
to vote in Cambodian elections. These are the reasons why Cambodians are very
concerned about the influx of Vietnamese illegal settlers; very concerned about
becoming minority in their own country and very concerned about the future of
Cambodia.
Champa is the past evidence; Kampuchea Krom is the today's evidence. History is
unfolding right in front of Cambodian people's eyes.
