Poipet: A Thai town or a Khmer town? The fireworks with the picture of the Thai king appeared on the top right. The vote was 28 in favor, 8 against, and 5 abstentions. Oct. 21, 1986 The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution A/RES/41/6, by vote of 116-21 with 13 abstentions, calling for a withdrawal of Vietnamese forces from Cambodia. The dragon dances from Thailand were the most popular dances because they were well-dressed and well-rehearsed, coupled with the spectacular fireworks.To the surprises of local and international tourists, when the fireworks went up, suddenly a big picture of the Thai king appeared in a big white cloth hanging from a tall pole and were surrounded by spectacular fireworks.Many Khmer spectators were not amused. They questioned whether Poipet is a Thai or Khmer town. They have criticised Khmer authority for allowing the picture of the Thai king to be displayed in the celebrations on Khmer soil. They said that if there is a need to display the picture of the king, it should have been a picture of the Khmer king, instead of a picture of the Thai king.Many Khmer people criticised that those casinos are private foreign-owned casinos, why they are so influential and do whatever they want on Khmer soil without respecting the Khmer culture and the Cambodian laws.Mrs. Kanchana, chief of Poipet International Checkpoint, said that those casinos have organised the Chinese new year celebrations by inviting the dragon dancers from Thailand and did not ask the permission from the Cambodian authority, therefore she know nothing about why the picture of the Thai king was displayed in the fireworks.She added that, if she knew that the picture of Thai king was to be displayed in the fireworks she wouldn’t allow it.Many Khmer living in Poipet said that many Thai-owned casinos never respect Khmer culture and Khmer laws because all the casino’s logos and shopfront signs were all written in the Thai language, without any Khmer language written on them. These practices have negatively affected the reputation of Cambodia and Cambodian culture.Many Khmer people condemned the Khmer authority for being weak and are afraid of the influences of those Thai-owned casinos, leaving them to do whatever they want inside the Khmer territories without respecting any Khmer laws. They request the Poipet authority to punish those casinos that are violating the Cambodian laws. C'est la chute la plus forte de cette composante du PIB depuis le premier trimestre 1987. Les dépenses de biens durables avaient reculé de 14,8 % au troisième trimestre. Sur 2008, les dépenses de consommation de biens durables reculent de 4,4 %.Le PIB et les dépenses de consommation affichent deux trimestres consécutifs de recul pour la première fois depuis la période allant d'octobre 1990 à mars 1991, pendant la guerre du Golfe.
