Sino-U.S. Relations in Pictures

On Jan. 1, 1979, China and the United States officially established diplomatic
relations, marking a historic turning point in their bilateral relations. In
the short span of 30 years, the ship of China-U.S. relations has forged ahead,
come rain or shine. It has brought tremendous benefits to the two peoples and
contributed greatly to world peace and development.

Forced evictions leave thousands homeless in Cambodia, says UN expert

Raquel Rolnik, Special Rapporteur on adequate housing
30 January 2009 – The forced evictions of tens of thousands of Cambodia’s poor
constitute a “grave breach” of human rights, a United Nations independent
expert said today, calling for damages to be paid for lost homes and the
provision of alternative housing. In the middle of the night last week, over
130 families were forced to leave their homes without prior notice in the
capital, Phnom Penh, so that a private company could redevelop the site. The
shelters in the poor community were destroyed, and there have been reports that
before the eviction, the community suffered intimidation and that the area’s
representatives were subject to criminal charges.

“Given the disastrous humanitarian situation faced by the victims of forced
evictions, I urge Cambodian authorities to establish a national moratorium on
evictions until their policies and actions in this regard have been brought
into full conformity with international human rights obligations.”

 KING SIHAMONI DOES NOT CARE.

But this man does.President Reagan's address to the 43d Session of the United
Nations General Assembly in New York, New York,September 26, 1988. "Mr.
Secretary-General, there are new hopes for Cambodia, a nation whose freedom and
independence we seek just as avidly as we sought the freedom and independence
of Afghanistan. We urge the rapid removal of all Vietnamese troops ...." As of
today,Cambodia is still occupied by the Vietnamese troops despite the call from
the US president to Vietnam to cease her occupation of Cambodia since 1988.
Cambodia needs Independence from Vietnam and the Vietnamese invaders.Vietnam
must cease her occupation of Cambodia at once.
