March 1, 2009 SRP ASKS FOR DEPOSITS FROM TEXTILE COMPANIES TO ENSURE PAYMENT OF WORKERS' SALARIES Because an increasing number of garment factories have closed and their foreign owners left Cambodia without paying their workers' salaries for up to six months, SRP National Assembly members wrote on February 24 to Prime Minister Hun Sen asking for foreign textile companies to deposit funds at the National Treasury in order to secure payment of workers' salaries in case of bankruptcy. National Assembly President Heng Samrin received the letter and forwarded it to the prime minister on February 27.
