UN Passes Strong Resolution on Cambodia Human Rights Abuses
Feb. 27, 1982 : UN Commission on Human Rights meeting in Geneva adopted a
resolution condemning Vietnam’s occupation of Cambodia as a violation of
Cambodian human rights. The vote was 28 in favor, 8 against, and 5 abstentions.
Oct. 21, 1986 The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution A/RES/41/6, by vote
of 116-21 with 13 abstentions, calling for a withdrawal of Vietnamese forces
from Cambodia.
Kaing Kek Iev, aka Duch, was arrested in 1999. According to the Morphology

King Birthday Ceremony To Be Held Thursday
Phnom Penh, May 11, 2009 AKP --
The birthday ceremony of His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, will
be held on May 14.
Generally, during the ceremony, the king goes to province where Buddhist monks
chant the religious scriptures and praise for the good health of him. In turn,
the monarch donated some cash for the development of the pagoda.
After the ceremony, King Sihamoni provides donation including rice, mosquito
nets, blankets, scarves, T-shirts, sarongs, pants and some money to needy
villagers.
The government officials, workers and employees will have three days off from
May 13 to 15. --AKP
