Mrs. Mu Soc Hua filed her lawsuit against Hun Sen with the Cambodian court
knowing quite well that she would never win. She probably didn't expect that
the Premier would counter her complaints.
The lawsuits filed against Premier Hun Sen by Mu Soc Hua and against Mu Soc Hua
by Premier Hun Sen did not benefit the oppositions as planned. The lawsuits
incited some reporters, NGO workers, some members of international community
and political supporters, but at the end nothing much will be achieved from the
"tit for tat" events that basically divert Cambodians from many pressing issues
facing Cambodia at the moment.
When the July, 2008 election was over, the CPP claimed totaled control over the
Assembly and the Senate. Both bodies have been headed by Heng Samrin and Chea
Sim. The international community as well as national community has accepted the
final results. The Oppositions vowed initially not to participate in the
swearing secession, but SRP flipped and decided to show up leaving HRP's
members behind looking for reasons to seek help from the CPP and the King. The
CPP scored political points and ridiculed members of SRP and HRP for they
failed to keep their own words.
SRP’s president, Sam Rainsy, afterward, was fined by the NEC for violating some
election rules. Outcries by members of national and international community
gave strong hopes to Mr. Sam Rainsy. He initially declared that he would not
pay the fine, but later on, when push came to shove, he did. SRP have more past
records in giving in to what the CPP wanted, hence there is no reasons to
believe that this time it will not do it again. Some sorts of compromising will
be done and generally at the expense of SRP.
Legally speaking the CPP has the right to run the country via forming the Royal
Government of Cambodia. Cambodian court systems of all levels are strongly
influenced by Cambodian government which is dominated by leaders of the CPP.
True democratic processes, justice, and freedom have never been fully
accredited by the international community, and the CPP will not afraid to step
backward to keep its opponents up to the mark.
Whether the decisions by such a court are fair or not, it is very tricky for
anyone to interfere with its decisions. The only one person that can influence
the court is Premier Hun Sen. In the past, when politicians were previously
convicted by the Cambodian court; letters of apologies of some sorts were
written by individuals in question to Premier Hun Sen so that he could give his
blessing to the Cambodian court.
It appears that the history will repeat itself at this time again, and the
people will soon forget.
