The largest Diamond in the World is Cambodian
Cambodia is very rich in gemstones, valued in billion dollars.
The
Cullinan I, a pear shaped diamond weighing 530.20 carats is also known as the
Star of Africa. It measures 53mm x 44mm x 29mm, and has 76 facets. It's called
the Cullinan I because it is the largest of 9 large stones cut from the 3106
carat Cullinan Diamond. Cullinan I was placed by King Edward in the Sovereign's
Royal Sceptre as part of the Crown Jewels, and it is now on display in the
tower of London. Estimated value of Cullinan I is over $400 million!
The
anecdote told us that the African man who discovered the rough diamond which
would become the Cullinan I, the Great Star of Africa, had exchanged it for a
horse and a cabana.
In
Saudi Arabia, two decades ago, a very rich Saudi Prince forgot his coffer key
on his master room. His housekeeper, a Thai woman, made secretly a copy of that
key without the knowledge of the Saudi Prince. During the annual break, the Thai
housekeeper returned to Bangkok. She took the plane and was flying back to
Bangkok with all the Saudi Prince jewelry. She emptied the Saudi Prince coffer.
The
Saudi Prince realized that his Thai housekeeper had stolen all his jewelry,
valued in several million dollars. He called the Saudi Ambassador to Bangkok
ordering the Ambassador to intervene with the F
oreign Minister of Thailand to
retrieve his jewelry while his housekeeper was still in the airplane not yet
arrived at Bangkok.
A
Police Colonel from the security guard at Bangkok Airport arrested the
housekeeper and confiscated all the Saudi Prince jewelry. The Foreign Ministry
of
Thailand knew the story, the Interior Ministry knew the story, the Saudi Arabia
knew so well the story, the Thai Police knew it very well also, but the Saudi
jewelry disappeared without trace. People who got involved in this affair were
assassinated. Until today, the Saudi Prince still don’t get his jewelry back.
Five years ago, a
Cambodian gemstone explorer, discovered near Samlot village, Battambang
province, an apple/coconut shaped rough ruby diamond of more than ten thousand
carats (two kilograms, 4.4 pounds), three times larger than the
Cullinan I. The Cambodian gemstone explorer rushed to Bangkok to sell it to a
rich and powerful Thai politician, maybe for the price of a horse as the
African who discovered the Cullinan I.
The rich and powerful Thai
politician lost, three years ago, his power by a coup. He needed dramatically
money to finance his comeback. Now we don’t know the whereabouts of the stone
and the owners. Maybe he resells it already, maybe not. Rumor stated that the
rough ruby diamond returned back to Cambodia because the deal was not done yet.
The seller asked for two hundred million dollars while the offer was just one
hundred million.
The photo of that stone
shows it was an apple/coconut shaped ruby large as a baby head. When the
Culligan I was discovered, the De Beer experts don’t want to believe it was a
diamond. It took the experts six months
to prove that was a diamond.
For the Cambodian coconut
shaped gemstone, it needed the experts to verify its true nature: Is-it really a
diamond? If it is a flawless diamond its value might be rocketed to one billion
dollars. Ta Mok people knew so well this story. They told me the story.
My friend gemstone
explorer tells me: Cambodia was very
rich in gemstone. Cambodian gemstones valued much more than our oil/gas.
Cambodian gemstones can finance our schools, universities,
roads, freeways, dams, canal irrigation system, healthcare etc, said my friend.
It's just a dream?
