Dec. 25, 1978 Invasion of Cambodia. Some 150,000 Vietnamese with 20,000 KUFNS
troops, under the direction of Gen. Van Tien Dung, launch an invasion of
Cambodia.
Jan. 11, 1979 The UN Security Council agreed, over the objections of the Soviet
Union and Czechoslovakia, to let Prince Norodom Sihanouk present a demand for
the withdrawal of Vietnamese forces from Cambodia.
Feb. 17, 1979 "Teaching a lesson". Some 170,000 Chinese troops with 700
warplanes, and 250-300 tanks launched an invasion of Vietnam to punish it for
invading of Cambodia.
Feb. 18, 1979 The PRK and Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV) signed in Phnom
Penh a 25 years friendship treaty. Heng Samrin, Pres. of the People’s
Revolutionary Council, signed for Cambodia and Pham Van Dong, Premier of the
SRV, for Vietnam.

UN Passes Strong Resolution on Cambodia Human Rights Abuses
Feb. 27, 1982 : UN Commission on Human Rights meeting in Geneva adopted a
resolution condemning Vietnam's occupation of Cambodia as a violation of
Cambodian human rights. The vote was 28 in favor, 8 against, and 5 abstentions.
Oct. 21, 1986 The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution A/RES/41/6, by vote
of 116-21 with 13 abstentions, calling for a withdrawal of Vietnamese forces
from Cambodia.
Vietnamese General Confers Medals to Cambodian Officers
Phnom Penh, January 22, 2010 AKP --
Hundreds of military and civil units and individuals were awarded with
Friendship Medals and Certificates of Merit by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of
Defense Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Van Duoc under the chairmanship of Gen. Tea
Banh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia.
The hand-over ceremony was held here yesterday in recognition for
Cambodian military and civil officials’ outstanding contributions to the search
and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese combatants, who have laid their lives
in Cambodia during the war.
In the past 10 years, Cambodian and Vietnamese joint search teams
have unearthed a total of 12,162 sets of remains and repatriated them to
Vietnam for reburying. They are looking for some 8,000 other sets of remains in
