Take the extreme approach to either direction is not gonna work. The
rise of industrialist barons and the concentration of wealth by those
people during the Industrial Revolution by exploiting the working poor
lead to extreme idea of Karl Marx communism. Neither of these extreme
ideology are working. It has to be some rules and regulation to adjust
the injustice and exploit by the rich and powerful. It is neither
socialism nor is pure wild west capitalism is the answer. As we all see
in Cambodia. If you expect the rich and the power to do the right, you
can wait for a very long time. Rather than help paying taxes to build
the roads, fix pot holes, they buy a $200K SUV to avoid the pot holes.
The rich get richer, while poor get poorer. The rich cannot get out and
about without a dozen body guards because they fear robbery, even worst
death. I think Obama has so far taken a pragmatic approaches. He
bailed the Wall Street fat cats whose greed led them to bet their own
farm. He believe let them fail may drag the nation economy into a 2nd
Great Depression. At the same, he sees there are a need to raise tax on
the wealthy 1 percent to help balance the deficit, and lower taxes for
the middle class Americans, who unlike the Wall Street, face the brunt
of this down turn. Universal health care is not a socialism in 21th
century, all of the industrial nations have some of universal health
care for their people. USA may be the richest nation on earth, but our
standard of living is 19th place, well below Japan, France, Sweden,
Finland, etc because our health care industry profit on at the expense
of American health. 45 mil American currently do not have any health
care coverage. Many will lose their health care when they lose their
job. To many Americans, including many Cambodian Americans, financial
ruin is only a sickness away.

Professor is a Genius

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had
never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.
--------------------------------------------
That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one
would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on
Obama's plan".
All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade
so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The
students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little
were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had
studied
even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free
ride too
so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was
happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all
resulted
in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that
socialism would
also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to
succeed is great
but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want
to succeed.
Could not be any simpler than that.
