kangaroo, What is your solution? Complain about the complainers? and do nothing....?
The law is a good first step (though I have not seen the draft). Whether this will work or not, time will tell. But it is much better than doing nothing. It is regrettable for such a bright human being as you are to have such a negative view about your own people. Yes, mistakes happened in the past that we fought, killed, and as you mentioned a million time destroyed each other. We currently still do not get along as race as a nation. That does not mean every thing is bad and rotten about our culture. There are those of us who work hard every day, learn every day, try to improve thing to the best of our ability every day. Change is hard and will take time. So what if it takes a decade to change things. I am confident that Khmer will change. Currently, we may have many uneducated people in powerful positions that make it hard for the country to progress. But we will overcome as we have done in the past. We overcame foreign subjugation prior to the French protectorate; we overcame the French's rule; we went through monarchy rule; we went through the short lived Khmer Republic, we overcame the Pol Pot regime; we overcame the Vietnamese invasion and Vietnamese's rule. We are going through another transition( though it may seem that we are stuck in the transition). I am hopeful because there are many of us who are educated and very practical. When the condition is right, we all going to go back working together to rebuilding our nation. I hope you join us.
