Dear Lok Savun, Sir. The corruption can be anywhere in this world event your famous country does have it, too. Cambodia might be Baby-Walking- Democracy, but all those she learnt from the best. As long as Cambodia is not going to create RICO laws to abuse its citizens these days, take time to heal.
Anti-corruption can not happen in one day, it must to take time. WK Date: Thu, 15 Jul 2010 06:57:08 -0700 From: [email protected] Subject: Cambodian officials required to declare assets this year. To: [email protected] CC: [email protected] An anti-corruption law passed in March, 2010 any official found guilty of taking bribes will face up to 15 years in prison. But how? The law in Cambodia is not enforces by the paper. It is by people who are in power’s mouth. In an estimate of some 100,000 government officials in Cambodia, including Hun Sen will be required to declare their assets by this year. I would includes the teachers as well, they are fully corrupted with bribe, selling assignments, take money from students for registration in most cases are up to $100, per registration. If someone doesn’t bribe, that individual can’t go to school. Om Yentieng, appointed- chairman of the government- Anti-Corruption Unit, said that it will require senior officials -- including civil servants and police officials -- to detail their assets by November. I am willing to wait and see how Hun Sen, Sam Rainsy, Chea Sim, Sok An, Heng Samrin, Norodom Sihamoni, Kem Sokha, etc are declare their assets, and verification of their source of incomes. These people’s incomes are between $750 to $3,000. They don’t own or operate any businesses. I am wondering how these people became millionaire, in such a short a period of time. Some says, Cambodia is developing and advance, economically, security and as well as standard of living. In my opinion, this is wrong assumptions. If we do the accountability checks; in past 17 years, after UNTAC’s election 1993. Cambodia, heavily dependent on foreign aid, if I am comparing with the dimensions of American’s dollar (bills) to spread on the ground piece by piece; it will be covered Cambodia. In conclusion, Cambodia a very small country and the population under 15 millions, it should be turning better today than it is now. STOP COMPARE “ It’s better than 1979”. And it is not they way you lead Cambodia. Savun -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Cambodia Discussion (CAMDISC) - www.cambodia.org" group.
