Dear Watkeo Kuma,

I respect your grandpa for his wisdom. As for my own (paternal)
grandpa, i never heard any wisdom from him, as he passed away when I
was a little child. When I was growing up, I learned from my dad that
my grandpa was an officer of the Cambodian military during the French
protectorate. My grandpa was of the Lon Nol's generation and was a
buddy of his (they were so intimate friends that they talked with each
other using the Khmer words "rha-eng anh"). They and a few others were
of the highest ranking Cambodian officers at that time (of course
there were higher ones, those were the French). They fought in battle
fields against the Viet Minhs. My grandpa had plenty of experience
fighting the Viet Minh guerrillas. If he had been still alive during
the 1970-1975 Cambodian war, he would have been a definite asset for
the Khmer Republic's military.

So both your grandpa and mine fought against the communists, although
in different ways.
