*Khmer Language is the most important part of Cambodian diaspora in abroad.
Though, those people are active in preserving Buddhism, Khmer culture and
cuisine, tradition festivities, dances, music, songs and clothing etc; those
will not be sustainable if they and their children cannot speak or use Khmer
language.

The research shows that language is the most vital part of surviving ethnic
identity in the multi-cultural societies.

Seeing this importance, the Khmer Language School of Sunday of
Khmer-Canadian Buddhist Cultural Centre in Canada has strongly committed to
achieve this goal by opening Khmer Language School since 2003. We have many
students graduated from this language school and many younger students are
eagerly looking forward to participating this class.

To achieve this Language School, the incentives and encouragement for
students to attend classes is very crucial. Without having capable
instructor, engaging from parents and the community, the number of students
would be not increased.

I would like to thank the community, association, students, parents and
others who have made this goal successful, and I do hope that our Khmer
Language School will strive to give opportunity for our younger generations
to grow as well as to preserve the heritage of their parents.

With Loves and Sincere Regards,

Sophan Seng
Instructor*
