China now worries about Korean peninsula. China security planners seem not so
smart. India, Russia, North Korea, Burma, and Vietnam are potential risk for
China. These countries either have nuclear bombs or planning to build one. Any
war can possibly lead to use of nuclear bombs. That will harm China.

After North Korea sinking of South Korean ship and latest shelling of South
Korean villages on an island near disputed maritime border with the North,
South Korean people are deeply angry. South Korean government is under pressure
to respond to North Korean threat. If for any unpredictable reason, the South
suffers another attack from the North, war can easily break out.

Can China afford going to war for North Korea?.... I doubt. China now is not
under Mao who caused so many deaths and suffering. China needs to build its
economy. Going to war can easily return China back to dark age.

BEIJING/SEOUL (Reuters) – Chinese President Hu Jintao on Monday warned U.S.
President Barack Obama that tensions on the Korean peninsula could spiral out
of control if not dealt with properly, their first discussion on the issue
since the North shelled the South nearly two weeks ago. Analysts said Hu's
comments showed a greater sense of urgency in the Chinese leadership over the
mounting tension and also an attempt to avoid the perception that Beijing is
siding with its ally Pyongyang to face off against the United States, Japan and
South Korea whose foreign ministers meet later in the day to discuss the North
Korea situation.
