HILLARY'S WAR to send your sons to war in Libya . to send your sons to war in Vietnam 1965 This one I just found is a rare picture of men from the 2d Brigade, 1st Infantry Division landing at Vung Tau on 13 July 1965, at the beginning of the massive US troop build-up in the Republic of Vietnam. The 1st Infantry arrived in Nam with it's old M-14 rifles, the new M-16s going in priority to elite units such as the 173d Airborne Brigade, the 101st Airborne Division or the 1st Cavalry Division. Here's probably one of my favorite pictures of Vietnam found on the net, the quality of it is quite unbelievable, it shows men of C-1/8 Inf, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division descending the side of Hill 742 located five miles northwest of Dak To during operation MAC ARTHUR, 14 November 1967. The original picture is 2800x2200 and you can see it in all its glory here at CMH: This one I already posted in another thread but I found it truly remarkable so I put it here too, a M551 Sheridan of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. I don't have any other info on this picture unforunately, but it looks like it might have been taken during the Cambodian incursion in 1970. Beautiful photo taken from a slick flying over a village located near the Black Virgin Mountain (Nui Ba Den) in Tay Ninh province. Vietnam was truly the beauty and the beast: heaven from the sky but a nightmare when on the ground. YOUR SONS ?
