Siam uses two different policies. The conservative Democrat Party (founded by a Khmer named Khuang Abhaivong) adopts a nationalistic policy, but this has failed politically in the recent election because the majority (poor) prefer a more egalitarian , friendly policy, based on ASEAN and UN Charters.
Either policy, Thaksin group has won politically. But, economically, the group that supports Abhisit still exports $ 2 biilion worth of commodities to Cambodia per year. Thaksin group owns cell phone and casino business in Cambodia. Cambodia loses to both groups economically because it exports around $ 200 million to Thailand. Hugh rade deficit!
