Dear James:

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

I would like to share some of my old homework.

The current politics in Thailand is the fighting for power by three groups
of *Chinese business interest:* Thaksin (son of former KMT from China...Red
Shirt...supporting Cambodia), Sondhi Limthongkul (son of another former KMT
from Taiwan...Yellow Shirt...fighting Cambodia verbally with Chamlong) and
the CP groups (from Taiwan, who supports Abhisith's Democrat Party). It is
interesting to know that Democrat is the oldest party in Thailand. It was
created by a Cambodian from Battambang. His name was Khuang Abhaivong or
Aphaiwong. He served as prime Minister of Thailand four times in1940s and
1950s. His father, originally from Takeo, was the governor of Battambang
when Thailand ruled that part. He left Cambodia to Thailand in 1907 when
BTB was returned to France. The King of Thailand gave him Prachinburi to
rule afterwards. Khuang was educated in Paris and was among leaders who
staged a revolution in 1932 in Thailand and transformed the absolute
monarchy to constitutional one.

The second Cambodian Thai to become prime minister was Sarit Thanarat, who
lost Preah Vihear case to Sihanouk.
