Dear Sophoan: Thank you for posting this article. I have been involved with Dr. Penn Setharin, President and Founder of CAPSEA/Buddhi Khmer Center. Dr. Setharin got the donations from Japanese Private donors to build the schools in Cambodia. I had initiated CAPSEA/ Daido Life Foundation to fund to build 5 furnished class rooms at my former Jr. High School @ Srok Puok. With the $100K Grant from Daido Life Foundation, CAPSEA had built 3 schools buildings @ Puok High School, Tmor Prasat Elementary School (Anlong Veng) and Phnom Tauch Elementary School.
Here is the mission of CAPSEA. *CAPSEA: The Cultural Aid Project for South East Asia* This organization was founded in 1991 by theOB of cambodian students in Japan and many japanese and foreigner friends living in Japan who wish peace and harmony in Cambodia. At first with his birth CAPSEA had made Japanese - Cambodian Dictionary for cambodian residents and in 1993 the cambodian Alphabet table was made (10000copies)and distributed in all schools in the Kingdom of Cambodia. In 1994 with the assistance of Kanagawaken Kokusaikouryuu kyoukai CAPSEA had made 20000copies of the Cambodian Alphabet drill note-book and distributed to children in the villages far from town.This Alphabet drill note-books were reprinted 20000copies every years untill 2000. In 1995 As main Peace seed sowing tool, with the assistance of the ex-Ministry of Post and saving of Japan CAPSEA had made and published " Sievphow Rian Aan " (the text book of learning how to write and read khmer alphabets)which is very popular among children and was praised by parents by its gentle contents and illustrations. This book is reprinted 20000copies every years ,distributed to children in the rural district . Beside in 1995 CAPSEA had built a House for Women in Phnom Penh and had encouraged 667women to have job in the apparel Factories or to earn their living by working in the beauty salon or have their own atelier of waving khmer traditional textile the "hole". Beside with the assistance of Daido Life foundation ,of Mr Momose Hiroshi,Mr Sakai the former news announcer of NHK ,Mrs Hachiya ,The Akita Prefecture Tea Ceremony's Master,The Akita Kimono Komatsu,Mr Ei Rokusuke the famous composer of Sukiyakisong etc we had built 10 elementary schools and one hight school in out of the way place in Cambodia. Now the main activity of CAPSEA is helping children to read and to write khmer alphabet by the text books CAPSEA had made and with the assistance of many japanese and cambodian living in Japan translate more than 3000 of gentle pictures books into khmer language to follow children who had learn how to write and read to recall what they had learned, to have gentle heart ,sympathy to each other and become good citizen . For Lycee students and adults CAPSEA had also translated many good books that you can find in some book stores.The revenue is used for the management of CAPSEA office in PP and SR.
