You have mentioned alot of things that Sihanoukd had done. With your opinions, they were gracious acts for Cambodia from Sihanouk's pioneer. I'm contesting it as followed. First, Norodom Sihanouk brought independence back from France after endless fighting by many factions includes Sangkum Reas Niyum lead by Sihanouk. Norodom Sihanouk isolated all factions from his when France decided to return sovereignty back to Cambodia. Furthermoer, Sihanouk in power was trying to eliminate those facition including summary execution. Norodom Sihanouk did not want anyone else to interfere his power. You said that Sihanouk gracious was cut short by the coup of Lon Nol regime. You had not mentioned anything about the agreement between Sihanouk and China and North Vietnam. North Vietnamese was allowed to use Cambodian soil to transport troops and supplies to fight the war in South Vietnam again South Vietnam and the American troops. At the same time, Norodom Sihanouk allowed China to use Cambodian seaport to transport weapons to feed North Vietnamese in the same cause. That was a major cause for the coup by Lon Nol backed by the American government. You said that Sihanouk goal was to keep peace in Cambodia. It has been happening before your eyes. Siahnouk had not tried to keep peace for Cambodia. Instead, he was trying to retain his power in many ways. He would do anything for his power including joining his long time enemie, Khmer Rouge. Remember! He was the leader of Khmer Rouge coalition until victory. The UN recognized Sihanouk and Khmer Rouge representative. Hence, Sinahouk has not kept anything to have peace for Cambodia. Even after the Vietnamese invasion, he would do anything for his power. My friend, Please open your eyes and see realities. Norodom Sihanouk has been trying to claim that he too was a victim of Khmer Rouge. Perhaps, it is true after he had lead them to victory. Don't forget that Sihanouk was a major part of the Khmer Rouge movement for victory. He must be responsible his own act. Perhaps, they could not have won if Sihanouk was not a part of it. We would never know. However, we know for fact that many Cambodians joined Khmer Rouge after Norodom Sihanouk called them to join to fight Lon Nol regime. They all did graciously until they won. That was a part of Norodom Sihanouk pioneer. This victory lead to millions of Cambodian deaths. Where is Sihanouk? Shall we give him the credit for that creation? I do.
