I just learned this morning about the passing of Bun Heang Ung.

For me Bun Heang Ung is more than a cartoonist. He is a historian because
his cartoons under the regime of Pol Pot are so vivid and so accurate
(based on information I gathered from witnesses who lived under the Khmer
Rouge) that even words cannot do a better job. Bang Heang has left us a
great legacy with his artworks of the atrocity of the Khmer Rouge. We shall
never forget! His view on politics did not stop when he escaped the Khmer
Rouge but continued to his dying days until he no longer could draw. I
truly respect his craft and his opinions and view on politics. He is an
honorable man with principles.

May he rest in peace.
