Try starting with B&W film. Color film is definitely the wrong 
approach as the dye layers will be working against you. Infrared 
color film has make believe colors that correspond with different 
wavelengths that don't show color as we see them. Start with a simple 
old emulsion B&W film to at least get a baseline.
