Hi Ted:
Having done commercial and advertising photography
with an 8X10 Deardorff for many many years I would
have to disagree with you. The tapered bellows on my
V-8 allow me to use quite extreme perspective
correction with no bag bellows. While I cannot use
extreme correction with very short lenses on a flat
lensboard, a rather cumbersome recessed lensboard
would cure most of that.
If I needed to do extreme correction with short
lenses, I would feel compelled to use a monorail
camera with a bag bellows, but it has never come up. I
feel that through many years the dorff has far
exceeded my needs in the correction department and can
only do this because of the very short bellows draw
obtainable due to the tapered design.
This is my opinion based on use of the camera.
