Hello!
Two books to try:
A History of the Photographic Lens, Rudolph Kingslake
and
I can't find it at the moment... Its called something like "Modern Lens
Design," I don't recall the author.
I bought both of the books from amazon. The history book was incredibly
interesting, and the other was responsible for my taking physics 3 (it didn't
help), but the more of it I puzzle through, the better I feel about lenses.
Combining the book with the OSLO LT lens design software (free at (I think)
oslo.com) has made for a wonderful waste of many evenings.
