Hi;
         I sell telescopes (but not grit) so I know about it. I have made
groudn glass beofre using #400 grit. Actually an easier place to maybe
find the grit you need is a lapidry (rock polishing) hobby shop.
         It is however hard stuff to find. Teh few amatuer astornomer
suppliers who sell grit usually do so as part of a larger mirror making
kit. You are almost better off to look up your local astornomy club, ask
to get a hold fo an ATM (amatuer Telescope Maker - i'm into that too),and
explain what it is youa re doing. I think you will find a bit of kindred
spirit between ATM and camera makers. Beign in both places, lots of
similrities.
         Anyhow, fi you are really stuck,a nd do not knwo where to look,
try here for a start:

         Also, I'll forwad this message to the ATM mailing list,a nd see if
anyone there can help.
