I am looking at the new high output LEDs for a possible COLD light
source. I think a panel of these would produce cold light that is very
easily controlled. With the right controller and LED combination you
could do contrast control of variable contrast paper. One of the too
many ideas in my head right now.

Subject: [Cameramakers] Cold Light Head Construction

Hello All, I am new to the list.

I am a wet plate collodion photographer living near Washington DC.

4 years ago I built my first camera, just a simple fixed box wet plate
camera. Since then I have built backs for other cameras, the most recent

being an11x14 Kodak Century #8 studio camera.

I would like to ask if there is any online info on making a cold light
head
for my 5x7 Elwood. I want to put a cold light head on it.

I will need one large enough to use on an 8x10. I am looking for an 8x10
to
replace the 5x7 and have been unable to find one in my area at a decent
price. I hope to eventually come across one thats for sale and not in
California to avoid the high shipping costs.

Any suggestions?? Is it worth it to make a cold light head or would I
be
better off buying an Arista?
