I'm just finishing up a cherry wood 4x5, handsome brass knobs were a bit of
a problem but I found some black oninized steel ones through Reid tool
supply, www.reidtool.com and other brass parts, raw material, rack and
pinion, etc. through Small Parts Inc. www.smallparts.com Both companys will
send you their catalog. Find a small bussiness machine shop to do your
milling of slots in brass. I was lucky to find this one fellow who liked old
antique stuff and did a great job for me. Good luck hope this helps,
