Here are a couple of lens set-up questions I haven't found the answer to so far, maybe you can help:
1. If I mount a lens in a "new" shutter, how can I ensure that the distance between the front and rear groups is correct? It seems like even if I measure the previous mounting (assuming I have it) and use that distance, I still could be off a bit. Does the "backsighting" method work for this? 2. I understand that backsighting, or using a collimator, can help in setting the correct lens-to-film-plane distance - is there an easier method of setting it up other than trying different lens mount shim thicknesses until it's right? As an aside, on that one - any tips on cutting shims, or shim material? I've tried cutting brass shim stock for this, it's difficult to cut it without using a punch - and of course I don't have the correct size punch.
