I have got to the stage that the applet works fine when run by the AppletViewer, or when run on the Safari browser. But most other browsers that I have tried, including Camino and Mozilla, give me only an error message: "Start: applet not initialized."
Here are some details. Hardware platform: Apple dual 867 MHz Power PC G4, 256MB OS: Max OS 10.2.6 Developing envt: Code Warrior 8 Java Platform: J2SE, 1.3.1
Why am I not using Project Builder, which gives me the latest and greatest Java platform, J2SE 1.4.1? Because I already found out that only Safari can understand J2SE 1.4.1. Any other browser requires the Java 1.4.1 plugin. And the Java 1.4.1 plugin is not available. So I am already on Plan B.
I like Camino, it has the grace to complain when something is wrong. (NetScape won't even do that for me.) How can I best respond to its complaint? What magic initializes the applet?
