Anyway, if favicon startup loading has gone forever, I suggest to remove the favicon feature at all. It's frustrating to see them come and go across app's restarts.
Yes, my wife and I also use the "icon links" in our toolbar. Having them there on launch is very convenient, and I'd ask that it be changed back, or at least made optional (not to open that up again :)
I'll open it. It's somethink what i DON'T LIKE on Camino. I mention it earlier, that this browser is lacking straight and sharp focus on target audience and on development. Development is jumping forward (and sometimes BACK, like a last change which did Mike) rather in chaotic mooves, than in the straight clear way - because there is no such way! Yes, open source and public development is great thing, but there then must be some great manager of project, which will try to manage all development efforts to came to some clear, usable and stable result. My personal opinion is, that it have something to do with departure of Dave Hyatt to Apple last year.
My personal pain is one FEW YEARS old bug in Mozilla (bad rendering of some non-roman fonts under some, but very common circumstances) and few bugs in Camino (like loosing of favicons in menubar, but there are definetely vorst). I realy would like to see, if devs will try to clear list of errors, and try to improove some of existing (and not bad, but far from perfect) features, rather than experiment with new things. Yes, i'm giving my votes to errors, which i see in bugzilla and which i "like".
I will LOVE to have some better preferences - because i'm rather not average user, but i'm LAZZY user! And if i moove between different machines quite often, it's painfull to modificate behaviour in user.js in preferences. Shame!
And, some good news - if you want to have your favicons back, put this in to the user.js in you Camino preferences folder ( ~/Applications Support/Chimera/ etc...). If there is no such a file, create one, it must be of course text file.
user_pref("browser.chrome.favicons", true);
you icons will be than back...
And BTW, Safari core will soon have feature, which have Gecko, but for unknown reason is switch off (you can switch it on with modification of user.js), which alows you to jump throught all form elements and all links on page.
Personaly, i'm quite unhappy, that i'm not programer. I'll realy would like to help and push development in way, which i see meaningfull... but i just can try to push developers :)
