If we keep it this way it will make it harder to discover the feature "by accident" ... We should add some text to the search box along this line:
"use '/' key for inline search"

I 2nd this emotion. This is feature the competition doesn't have and you just went and made it that much harder to discover. Now I'm not going to go so far as to ask for you to reverse the change (I will be editing my prefs, no doubt) but please don't let this be the last of the changes as I think something more should be done to help folks discovery. In an earlier post I suggested (while there was no / prefix required) that upon 'first' activation a dialog similar to the popup blocker dialog would display, but now I'm not sure the best way outside of just the prefs dialog.
