Been trying to "clean up" my bookmarks and I've hit a little "bad"
thing. I LIKE being able to have menu spacers, I tend to group
things. And I'm very hierarchical. I keep the hottest links by
themselves or in tab groups in my toolbar. I also have a folder in
there with my "secondary" links. Tertiary goes in the drop-down
Bookmarks menu.
The problem arises because the current UI does NOT allow one to
create menu spacers in the toolbar bookmarks set. I realize that you
don't normally want to add a menu spacer to it, but you might want to
do it to a folder in the toolbar bookmarks. I have to actually move
that folder to the regular bookmark set, add my spacer and move it
back in. Not exactly elegant.
I'd like to bandy around ideas on making this function more elegant
than it is. My thought is that when you double click on a folder in
the toolbar bookmarks section, it open by itself in the edit window.
This would be expected UI. Now, it doesn't do that, it "discloses"
it's entries as if one were to hit the disclosure triangle. This is
NOT normal UI behavior. Once you have a folder open in that edit
window, it would make perfect sense to be able to add a menu spacer
item.
As to nightlies crashing, this is a generic issue as it clearly
happens in both 10.2 and 10.3. Wonder if it's related to Mike's 2/16
blog entry?
