These could be ancient issues.
I have a few problems with text boxes that seem to drive me nuttier as i use more forums. Trying to position the cursor to the left of left-most characters by clicking the mouse there has long been very difficult. Either i'm too far left for any effect, or the cursor appears after the first character. Seems to be a very fine line there to click left of text.
Also, i often click and drag to select text only to have nothing visible happen until i let the mouse button off. Then text is selected (highlighted) from the final mouse position to the end of the text instead of the portion i've dragged over.
I can't remember when i first noticed these behaviors, so it must be way back.
