I don't know. I just downloaded the file that said Camino-G3-750 or something. Since there were also two G4 and one G5 file, I assumed it would be best for my CPU. I don't know any details on it, just tried it out of the box.

Forgive me, but I'm confused how can something be "G3 optimized?"

when compiling, isn't the G3 is the baseline and any optimizations can
only be done to later CPU?

using http://www.numion.com/stopwatch/ on http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/

I get:

G3 optimised: 0.915s
G3 nightly: 0.832s

on an iBook 800MHz 384MB.

It's weird, because I would expect it to be the other way around. Took
both nightlies of yesterday. Did several samples and took the average
(excluding the first load - caching and stuff).

I don't know how many webservers are behind www.mozilla.org and whether
they are on different continents/links.

I had numbers that I sent to the builder for g3 builds at the
beginning/mid february regarding three different optimized builds.
I'll try an dig around my backups and find the file and post them. I'm
sure if you check the g3 optimized builds topic on the mozillazine
forums you can find comments regarding the numbers.

And yes, you will notice a significant difference on the optimized
builds over the standard nightlies.
