Last week, after installing a lot of new fonts, Camino started using a bizarre (and virtually unreadable) font to render pages that specified Arial (though not Arial Bold). I traced the problem to a corrupted Arial font (it was actually a font called Disco Monkey masquerading as Arial). I replaced the problem font with the copy off my iBook, and Arial now displays as expected in Font Book.

However, Camino (and Firefox) continue to display Disco Monkey when they should be using Arial, even though Disco Monkey is no longer active. I've checked for font conflicts, and flushed every system cache I can get my hands on, to no avail.

So, do Mozilla browsers have their own sneaky font cache somewhere? I really need to get my default fonts back to normal. Trying to use Google is a nightmare. I have tried trashing the Camino prefs, the Application Support folder, and tried resetting the fonts in Camino>Preferences>Appearance>fonts. Arial displays correctly in every other application I try it in.

TIA,

Richard
