I love it that the Address window maintains history so I can easily type part
of a path, then select from the list.

What I don't love is that the list;
   a) isn't sorted (or sortable)

The autocomplete list is sorted by most-frequently or most recently visited--I'm not positive--but perhaps it follows whatever sorting you have set for your History?

   b) doesn't appear to be editable
   c) therefore becomes full of duplicate and aged entries

Is there something I'm missing or is this a Request for Enhancement?

You can remove aged items by deleting them from your History, but there's a bug for cmd-delete as a shortcut in the actual autocomplete list <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=181716>

That's not to say the feature is prefect or complete :-)
