HI: This definitely sounds like some sort of conflict in your profile. The most likelly culprit is you user.js.

First I attempted to comment out the most likely suspects. When that was not working, I started removing them one by one, til I found the one that caused the problem. Believe me, I feel your pain! I ended up completely trashing my user.js and rebuilt it from scratch. This has permanently solved the problem. Its a long slow process but rebuilding the user.js gave me a chance once again to go through Camino's many hidden features. I'm glad I did it now.
