How about Camino? Disabling javascript could present some real
problems with an awful lot of sites... might as well switch to Lynx
(hmm, I wonder if there's a version for X?)!
As long as you're running Camino 1.0rc1 or a recent nightly build,
you're of course covered; either one is newer than Firefox 1.5.0.1.
If the problem is with a core feature of Gecko (like JavaScript),
Camino gets the fix automatically. No need to switch to Lynx. ;)
