Hello:

The problem with preview panes is that they are useful for media
files, and rarely, if ever, useful for text files. Most of my
bookmarks are references to text based sites so the preview pane idea
is almost useless to me. As well, I work on a 1Ghz iBook, so every
inch of screen space is precious. Currently, the groups panel is of
very little use to me after I choose the Bookmark Menu or the Bookmark
Bar to edit.

Here are my suggestions for the Bookmark manager:

1. Side Panel Groups Browser which can be completely hidden (the
Latest FireFox for mac can do this FireFox 1.5.0.2)

2. Scalable type in the Bookmark Manager itself. (these are currently
almost unreadable for me.)

3. An iTunes style Getinfo pop-up where you can edit information
about he bookmark which is visible in the manager itself and as well
add other information which may be needed for people who want to use
it for citations. The iTunes style seemed to me to be the best of all
worlds because it could also include a tab for a graphical preview. A
CD Cover is exactly that.

This would go a long way to making the Bookmark Manager truly useful
and would also help with the increasingly large Bookmark Drop-down
menu. I was thinking that the Bookmark Drop down Menu was a problem
itself but then realised that it would be solved for the most part if
I could effectively edit using the Bookmark Manager.

Cheers,
David
