There's a setting for whether or not new tabs and windows should open in the background... I wish these were two separate settings. I like my tabs to open in the background, I want my new windows to open in the foreground. Yes, that happens to be how Safari works.

But I think it really makes sense. I use tabs when I want to open something but I want to stay on the page I'm on. It's my way of saying "later." When I instead ask for it in a new window, it's invariably the thing I want "now." One could also do the reverse, but the point is, it's convenient to have a now-or-later distinction, and making windows and tabs behave the same way eliminates that.

Or is there some way to do this that I missed?
