You mean 1.6a1 pre vs 2.0a1 pre I think.
The 2.0a1 is the unstable, trunk version (Gecko 1.9), 1.6a1pre is from
the more stable Gecko 1.8 branch

That JEP 0.9.6.3 should land on the Gecko 1.8 branch soon I think.
