"More Mac-like" isn't really a fair characterization of the situation:
Apple has changed the tab shortcuts in Safari several times (if you'd
sent this email during earlier days of Safari, it would have been
"more Mac-like" to use Command-Shift-Arrow, and break a
well-established OS X text field behavior; I think the fact that
Safari abandoned those shortcuts demonstrates that not blindly
following them was the right choice), and it's really only in Leopard
that there are more apps with tabs to compare with. If there's a
strong indication that there is really a platform standard emerging,
we'll certainly consider changing our shortcuts accordingly (e.g.,
there has been some thought given to changing the web search shortcut,
given the increasing dominance of Command-Option-F for similar
fields), but it's not clear that that's the case yet for tabs.
